## Criminal Investigator (Special Agent) - Dual Compensation Opportunity

We are seeking highly experienced CSRS and FERS annuitants to serve as Criminal Investigators (Special Agents). This unique opportunity provides a dual compensation waiver, allowing you to receive both your full retirement annuity and a full federal salary.

  • Eligible for Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP) – an additional 25% of base salary plus locality pay.

  • *Core Responsibilities:**
  • Lead and conduct complex criminal investigations through all phases to successful completion.
  • Develop overall investigative strategies, identify information sources, and determine appropriate methods.
  • Plan and execute critical operations, including major evidence purchases, searches, seizures, raids, and arrests.
  • Foster strong relationships and facilitate information exchange with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Provide expert testimony in court proceedings and consult with prosecuting officials.
  • Serve as a team leader, providing guidance and reviewing reports from junior team members.
  • *Requirements:**
  • Must be a current CSRS or FERS annuitant.
  • One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service, by the closing date of the announcement.
  • **Specialized experience must include:**
* Conducting complex criminal investigations (all phases). * Determining investigative strategies and methods. * Planning major operational activities (e.g., evidence purchases, arrests). * Building and maintaining relationships with other law enforcement agencies. * Testifying in court and consulting with prosecutors. * Leading investigation teams and reviewing their reports.
  • Must meet Time-In-Grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date.
  • *Important Notes for Reemployed Annuitants:**
  • Appointments are non-status, term appointments (up to 3 years, with potential for extension).
  • Not eligible to make new retirement contributions or use this employment for a recomputed annuity.
  • Not eligible to participate in the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).
  • Volunteer experience will be credited towards meeting qualification requirements.
  • Only one appointment per job series is permitted under this authority.
