Job Description

Summary

Investigative Specialist supporting federal law enforcement, conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing reports for criminal cases.

Join our team to support critical federal law enforcement investigations. This role offers progressive duties from assisting in evidence collection and analysis to leading complex operational plans and providing expert testimony.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Assist in, and for higher levels, lead federal criminal investigations into alleged law violations.
  • Conduct comprehensive research, collection, and analysis of data from diverse sources.
  • Prepare detailed reports, findings, results, and briefings for law enforcement, legal teams, and court proceedings.
  • Collaborate effectively with court officials, federal law enforcement agencies, and prosecuting attorneys.
  • (For GL-09/GS-11 levels) Assist prosecuting attorneys in technical case preparation, present evidence, and testify in court.
  • (For GS-11 level) Develop operational plans, conduct surveillance, participate in raids/arrests, operate undercover, and manage confidential sources.
  • (For GS-11 level) Interview and interrogate persons suspected of law violations, and organize evidence for prosecution.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • *For GL-07 Level:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to GL/GS-05, including assisting investigations, writing reports, and data analysis. or
  • **Education:** One full year of graduate-level education in a relevant field, or a Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA). or
  • **Combination:** An equivalent combination of qualifying experience and education.
  • *For GL-09 Level:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to GL/GS-07, including assisting complex investigations, conducting briefings, and collaborating with legal/law enforcement officials. or
  • **Education:** A Master's or equivalent graduate degree, LL.B./J.D., or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education. or
  • **Combination:** An equivalent combination of qualifying experience and education.
  • *For GS-11 Level:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to GL/GS-09, including leading federal criminal investigations, undercover operations, surveillance, source development, and testifying in court. or
  • **Education:** A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, LL.M. (if related), or three years of progressively higher-level graduate education. or
  • **Combination:** An equivalent combination of qualifying experience and education.
