Job Description

Summary

Recruiting experienced CSRS/FERS annuitants as GS-13 Criminal Investigators to conduct complex investigations with full salary and annuity.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is recruiting experienced CSRS and FERS annuitants for Criminal Investigator (Special Agent) positions at the GS-13 level. This unique opportunity includes a dual compensation waiver, allowing reemployed annuitants to receive both their full annuity and full federal salary for a limited term.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Assess security threats and recommend preventative procedures.
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports on unusual incidents during assignments.
  • Conduct interviews with unauthorized individuals in restricted areas.
  • Formulate strategies for detecting, apprehending, and prosecuting law violators.
  • *Compensation & Benefits:**
  • Full annuity and full Federal salary (with approved OPM waiver).
  • Starting GS-13 base salary of $90,025.00, plus locality pay.
  • Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP) and an additional 25% of base salary.
  • Eligibility for annual and sick leave (for full-time/part-time schedules).
  • Overtime eligibility (for full-time schedules).
  • Flexible work schedules: full-time and part-time options available.
  • *Term of Appointment:**
  • 4-year, non-status term appointment in the competitive service.
  • Appointment not to exceed 4 years or 1 day before your 60th birthdate, whichever comes first.
  • The dual compensation waiver is currently approved through December 31, 2028. Continuation beyond this date may be subject to salary offset if the waiver is not renewed.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • **Experience:** At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, performing duties such as:
* Evaluating security threats and recommending procedures. * Preparing detailed investigative reports. * Conducting interviews with subjects in sensitive situations. * Developing law enforcement approaches for apprehending and prosecuting individuals.
  • **Physical Requirements:**
* Ability to perform duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion, including walking, standing, and use of firearms. * Manual dexterity with free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints. * Sufficient vision (corrected allowed) to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. * Hearing loss not exceeding 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. * Demonstrated emotional and mental stability, essential for duties performed under challenging conditions.
  • **Eligibility:** Must be a CSRS or FERS annuitant.
  • Meet OPM Qualification Standards for Occupational Series 1811.
  • *Important Notes:**
  • Reemployed annuitants are not eligible for additional retirement coverage (other than Social Security) or TSP contributions.
  • Only one appointment per job series is permitted.
  • Current or former political appointees within the last 5 years must disclose this information.
