Summary

Contract Specialist needed to manage federal defense contracts, applying procurement expertise and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Join the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) as a Contract Specialist, playing a vital role in managing the full lifecycle of government contracts. We are seeking experienced professionals at the GS-11, GS-12, and GS-13 levels.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle from pre-award planning through post-award administration, including modifications and closeout.
  • Apply a wide range of contracting methods, techniques, and contract types (e.g., firm fixed-price, cost reimbursement, incentive provisions).
  • Review procurement requests, recommend appropriate acquisition strategies, and negotiate contract terms.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with federal contracting laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Administer contracts, including processing payments and final evaluations.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • *Specialized Experience (One year at the next lower GS level or equivalent):**
  • **GS-11:** Applying contracting procedures, negotiating, and administering contracts for recurring assignments. (Alternatively, Ph.D. or 3 years of progressively higher graduate education in a relevant field).
  • **GS-12:** Planning and executing pre-award and post-award actions using a wide range of contracting methods and types.
  • **GS-13:** Performing the full range of pre and post-award contractual actions, ensuring compliance with complex regulations.
  • *Education Requirement (for all levels):**
  • A 4-year bachelor's degree in any field; or
  • At least 24 semester hours in a combination of accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.
  • *Important Notes:**
  • All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
  • Official transcripts are required to verify education; failure to provide them will result in ineligibility.
