We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to contribute to critical infrastructure projects, with opportunities at both the GS-13 and GS-14 grade levels. This role involves applying advanced civil engineering principles to evaluate structural dynamics and protect against vulnerabilities.

  • *Responsibilities:**
  • **At the GS-13 level:**
* Apply civil engineering concepts, principles, and theories to evaluate structural dynamics and provide technical advice. * Conduct technical evaluations of structures to identify and protect against vulnerabilities, recommending corrective actions. * Collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams, providing engineering expertise on complex projects.

  • **At the GS-14 level (leading responsibilities):**
* Lead evaluations of structural dynamics and civil infrastructure dependencies, delivering expert and policy-level advice. * Manage technical evaluations of structures or civil engineering infrastructure to protect against vulnerabilities. * Oversee complex, multidisciplinary projects, integrating expertise to drive the development of novel tools and techniques.

  • *Requirements:**
  • *Experience:**
  • **For GS-13:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-12 federal service) applying civil engineering concepts, evaluating structural dynamics/vulnerabilities, and working in multidisciplinary environments.
  • **For GS-14:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-13 federal service) providing expertise in advanced civil engineering, leading evaluations, and managing complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • *Note:* Both paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, will be credited towards qualifications.
  • *Education (Individual Occupational Requirements for 0810 series):**
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a school with at least one program accredited by ABET; or
  • A Bachelor's degree including differential and integral calculus, plus advanced courses (beyond first-year physics/chemistry) in five of the following seven engineering science or physics areas:
* Statics, Dynamics * Strength of Materials (stress-strain relationships) * Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics * Thermodynamics * Electrical Fields and Circuits * Nature and Properties of Materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties) * Any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics (e.g., optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, electronics).

  • *Important:** Failure to provide official transcripts will result in ineligibility for this position.
