Summary

Lead federal budget formulation, financial analysis, and advise senior leadership on fiscal policy for a law enforcement agency.

Join U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as a key financial leader at the GS-14 level, overseeing enterprise-level budget and financial management. This role involves significant responsibility in federal budget processes, strategic resource allocation, and providing critical financial advice to senior leadership.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Lead enterprise-level budget formulation and execution, integrating resource management strategies across organizational lines.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on federal budget processes (OMB and Congressional), interpreting statutes, regulations, and policies.
  • Advise executives on critical fiscal and policy ramifications, drafting agency positions and guidance.
  • Conduct complex program and cost analyses (e.g., cost-benefit, workload, statistical trend analysis) to develop performance metrics and inform decision-making.
  • Evaluate and enhance administrative, financial, and accounting systems, identifying gaps and implementing efficiency solutions.
  • Establish and maintain high-level liaison with DHS/CBP components and external stakeholders, negotiating and defending budget proposals.
  • Resolve complex and controversial financial and budgetary issues.
  • *Required Qualifications (GS-14 Level):**
  • **Experience:** Minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal service, performing duties similar to those listed above. Volunteer experience is credited.
  • **Federal Employees:** Must meet Time in Grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent) by 11/14/2025.
  • **Resume Requirement:** Your resume must explicitly detail how you meet this specialized experience.
  • *Other Important Requirements:**
  • **Background Investigation:** As a federal law enforcement agency, CBP requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation.
  • **U.S. Residency:** Must have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. A waiver process is available for specific conditions (e.g., U.S. government employment abroad).
  • **Probationary Period:** New federal employees will serve a one-year probationary period.
  • **Political Appointee Disclosure:** Required if applicable.
  • **CTAP Eligibility:** If eligible, you must achieve a minimum score of 85.
