Job Description

Summary

Support Border Patrol operations by analyzing data, assisting enforcement, and developing objectives. Requires law enforcement experience and Spanish fluency.

Join as a GS-13 specialist, providing critical support to Border Patrol operations. This role demands a strong law enforcement background and strategic thinking to enhance national security efforts.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Collaborate with Border Patrol managers to define objectives.
  • Analyze program data and metrics, recommending best practices.
  • Support enforcement operations, intelligence gathering, and logistical functions.
  • Generate reports from operational data to inform budget recommendations.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • **Experience:** 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, performing duties such as those listed above.
  • **Law Enforcement Expertise:** Demonstrated ability in:
* Making arrests and exercising sound judgment in firearms use. * Effectively engaging with individuals and groups in law enforcement contexts. * Rapidly analyzing information to make prompt decisions and take appropriate action. * Developing and maintaining informant networks.
  • **Language Proficiency:** Must be proficient in Spanish (speaking and reading).
  • **Federal Service Requirements:** This is a Secondary Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) position, subject to special retirement provisions typically requiring prior rigorous LEO experience and continuous service. Current federal employees must meet Time in Grade requirements (52 weeks at GS-12 or equivalent).
  • *Pre-employment and Continued Requirements:**
  • **Firearms:** Must meet initial and ongoing qualifications for firearms use. Ineligible if convicted of certain crimes (e.g., felony, domestic violence), an unlawful user of controlled substances, or subject to a restraining order.
  • **Medical:** Successfully complete a medical screening process.
  • **Background Investigation:** Undergo a thorough background investigation, including disclosure of felony convictions or drug use.
  • **Polygraph Examination:** Required for non-CBP law enforcement employees; reciprocity and waivers may apply.
  • **Volunteer Experience:** Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
