Lead Border Patrol operations, managing programs, policies, and personnel, requiring extensive law enforcement experience and Spanish fluency.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking a seasoned leader to serve as a Border Patrol Operations Supervisor (GS-14). This critical role involves providing high-level technical and administrative direction for Border Patrol functions within an assigned area, ensuring effective program management and policy implementation.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide technical and administrative direction and oversight for all Border Patrol functions.
- Supervise, manage, and direct operational programs and their support functions.
- Lead local policy and program initiatives.
- Develop and guide operational policies and programs related to Border Patrol operations.
- *Essential Qualifications:**
- **Experience:** Minimum one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, performing relevant duties.
- **Law Enforcement Acumen:** Demonstrated ability to make arrests, exercise sound judgment with firearms, deal effectively with individuals, analyze information rapidly, and maintain an informant network.
- **Language Proficiency:** Must be proficient in Spanish (speaking and reading).
- **Firearms Requirement:** Meet initial and continuing firearms qualifications as outlined in the Gun Control Act. Certain disqualifying factors apply.
- **Medical Requirements:** Successfully complete a medical screening, demonstrating physical and medical capability for the role.
- **Background Investigation:** Successfully undergo a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph examination (reciprocity or waiver may apply).
- **Retirement Coverage (Secondary LEO):** Position is subject to special retirement provisions for Law Enforcement Officers. Requires a mandatory prerequisite of prior experience in a primary/rigorous law enforcement or firefighting position, or equivalent non-federal experience (unless currently in a permanent Secondary LEO covered position).
- **Federal Employees:** Must meet Time in Grade requirements (52 weeks at GS-13) by October 27, 2025.
