Summary

CBP seeks a skilled Auditor to lead complex audit projects, ensure compliance, and manage stakeholder relationships.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking a highly qualified Auditor to manage complex financial audits and compliance projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to foster key relationships.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • **Lead & Manage Audits:** Plan, implement, and oversee complex audit projects and engagements with minimal supervision.
  • **Ensure Compliance:** Conduct audits applying Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), laws, and regulations.
  • **Analyze & Report:** Research intricate financial data, compile comprehensive reports, and present findings and briefings.
  • **Documentation:** Prepare professional written reports, briefings, and financial documents related to auditing and financial matters.
  • **Stakeholder Engagement:** Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • *Education (One of the following is required):**
  • **Bachelor's Degree:** A 4-year degree in Accounting, Auditing, Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration, *including* 24 semester hours in accounting (up to 6 hours in business law).
  • **or Combination:** At least 4 years of accounting experience plus college-level education/training that provided professional accounting knowledge, *and* one of the following:
* 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses (up to 6 hours in business law). * Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification obtained via written examination. * A degree with substantial accounting coursework (e.g., 15 semester hours), *combined with* successful full-performance level accounting experience and peer validation that your knowledge equals the 4-year degree described above.

  • *Specialized Experience:**
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 federal level, performing duties such as managing complex audits, ensuring compliance, preparing financial reports, and engaging stakeholders with limited oversight.
  • *Additional Requirements:**
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must pass a thorough background investigation and obtain/maintain a security clearance.
  • Successful completion of an online assessment is mandatory.
  • **Residency:** Generally, physical residency in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years is required. Exceptions may apply.
