Summary

Seeking skilled Pilot-in-Command for airborne law enforcement operations, requiring extensive flight hours and specific FAA certifications.

Join our team as an Air Interdiction Agent, flying both airplanes and helicopters to support law enforcement operations. This role requires extensive piloting experience, rapid decision-making, and the ability to coordinate complex airborne and ground assets.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Serve as Pilot-in-Command (or sole manipulator) of airplanes and helicopters in diverse flight conditions (night, poor weather, low altitude, challenging terrain).
  • Make rapid and sound judgments during in-flight operations.
  • Develop strategies and coordinate air and ground assets for missions.
  • Utilize information systems and databases for surveys, queries, and information dissemination.
  • Operate aircraft sensor systems (e.g., radar, night-vision goggles) for law enforcement.
  • Coordinate and conduct airborne law enforcement missions.
  • *Minimum Qualifications (GS-11 Grade Level):**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level, performing duties such as Pilot-in-Command, First Officer, or similar roles involving the core responsibilities listed above. This includes both paid and qualifying volunteer experience.
  • **Total Flight Hours:** 1500 total flight hours (may be waived to 1000 hours).
* Applicants can apply with 750 hours but must reach 1000 hours (or waived amount) before the 3-part assessment. * UAS (Predator A/B) flight hours can count towards total time only, not PIC, instrument, or night hours.
  • **Specific Flight Hours:**
* 250 Pilot-in-Command hours. * 75 Instrument hours. * 75 Night hours. * *Note: 100 flight hours in the last 12 months is currently waived until August 4, 2026.* * *No military flight hour conversion allowed.*
  • **Pilot Certification:** Current FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with instrument rating, possessing one of the following:
* Dual Rated: Airplane (Single-engine land or multi-engine land) and Rotorcraft Helicopter. * Airplane Rated: Airplane (Single-engine land or multi-engine land). * Helicopter Rated: Rotorcraft Helicopter. * Equivalent military rating accepted (requires official documentation).
  • **Medical Certificate:** FAA Class 2 medical required at the time of the 3-part assessment (dated within the last 12 months). FAA Class 1, Class 2, or military medical dated within 12 months qualifies for the pre-employment process.
  • *Additional Pre-employment Requirements:**
  • **Background Investigation:** Thorough background check required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
  • **Polygraph Examination:** Required for non-CBP law enforcement employees (reciprocity and veteran waivers may apply).
  • **Residency:** Must have physically resided in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years (waivers possible for specific U.S. government-related foreign service).
  • **Probationary Period:** A one-year probationary period applies for new federal employees.
