Summary
Lead communications strategy for a national civics and history education nonprofit, managing media relations and a high-performing team.
The Bill of Rights Institute, a nonpartisan nonprofit, champions civics and history education through market-leading programs. We seek a dynamic Vice President, Communications to lead our external messaging and brand building efforts.

- *Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans to advance civic and history education and affirm organizational leadership.
- Lead robust media relations, including aggressive outreach to print, radio, podcast, and television outlets.
- Manage and mentor a small, effective communications team.
- Craft compelling collateral and consistent messaging to effectively convey the organization's story and build affinity.
- Measure and report on communications strategy effectiveness using established KPIs.
- *Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive communications leadership experience, preferably within a nonprofit or business environment.
- Proven expertise in developing strategic messaging and ensuring message discipline across an organization.
- Established news media contacts with a demonstrated track record of successful media placements across various formats.
- Experience collaborating with C-suite executives on talking points, op-eds, and presentations.
- Strong project management skills with a history of seamless cross-departmental collaboration.
- Must reside in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

- Experience in a marketing leadership role.
- Deep experience building, managing, and mentoring marketing teams, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
