Active Minds seeks an experienced and dynamic Director of Marketing & Communications to elevate our brand as the premier national nonprofit in youth mental health. You will drive strategic marketing and communication campaigns, make Active Minds a household name among young adults (ages 14-25) and broader audiences, and serve as a vibrant external face of the organization. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, you'll lead a talented team and play a pivotal role in achieving our strategic goals.

  • *About Active Minds:**
Active Minds is the nation’s leading nonprofit mobilizing youth and young adults to change the culture around mental health. We build communities of support, save lives, and advocate for mental health to be valued as highly as physical health, with a commitment to racial equity and anti-racism.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • **Strategic Marketing & Communications:**
* Achieve strategic marketing and communications goals in partnership with the CMO. * Develop and execute strategically sound campaigns for key calendar moments (e.g., Suicide Prevention Month, Mental Health Awareness Month). * Project manage key initiatives, overseeing strategy brief implementation with a 11-person team. * Administer and ensure execution of a comprehensive MarComm calendar (marketing, communications, PR, digital). * Contribute to the strategic direction of corporate partnerships and develop compelling content for high-stakes campaigns.
  • **Brand Awareness & Partnerships:**
* Enthusiastically leverage external partnerships to maximize Active Minds’ brand awareness and engagement. * Lead efforts to pitch campaigns, programs, and timely content to media to secure widespread coverage. * Monitor social media for team alignment across communications, marketing, and digital strategy. * Serve as the MarComm lead for the annual National Conference, maintaining its reputation as a leading young adult mental health event.
  • **Leadership & Team Management:**
* Manage and provide leadership for a team of 3 direct reports: Senior Manager of Communications, Senior Manager of Public Relations, and Marketing Manager. * Ensure the team develops breakthrough marketing campaigns across various sectors and collaborate effectively with the Programs team. * Provide thought leadership and coaching to team members. * Represent MarComm in high-level meetings and events when the CMO is unavailable and actively participate as a member of the Active Minds Leadership Team.

  • *What You'll Bring:**
  • 8-10 years of proven expertise in marketing, communications, and public relations, with extensive success in developing and implementing strategy.
  • Significant experience leading a marketing, communications, and public relations team.
  • A passion for changing the culture around mental health nationwide, with a strong belief in equity and social justice.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating new concepts and visions.
  • Exemplary relationship-building and customer service skills, comfortable engaging with CEOs, CMOs, media, and celebrities.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing deadlines.
  • Full digital literacy, including Microsoft & Google products and online meeting tools. Experience with Salesforce and other databases is a plus.
  • *Compensation & Benefits:**
  • Salary Range: $100,000 - $114,000 (initial, potential growth to $142,000).
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, dental, generous PTO, paid holidays, 401(k) matching, parental leave, wellness reimbursement, and professional development.
  • Remote-friendly environment with a focus on work/life balance.
  • Active Minds is an equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
