## Telecommunications Specialist

• *Key Responsibilities:**
• Investigate, evaluate, and determine requirements for highly complex analog, digital, and VoIP telecommunications systems.
• Perform database management for the Cable Assignment Information Retrieval System (CAIRS) and provision telephone switching systems.
• Support recommendations for establishing or improving telecommunications systems that meet global Department of Defense (DoD) and Agency network access requirements.
• *Qualifications:**

  Specialized Experience:**

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service or an equivalent role in the military or private sector. This experience must include:

* Investigating and evaluating complex communication system capabilities. * Performing database management on CAIRS and provisioning telephone switching systems. * Supporting recommendations for analog, digital, and VoIP telecommunications systems.

• *B. Education:**
• A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D.
• The degree must be in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or a closely related field.
• **Note:** Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. Transcripts are required if qualifying based on education.

• *C. Combination:**
• An equivalent combination of qualifying post-high school education and specialized experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
• All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.*
