Lead, develop, and manage behavioral health crisis response programs, policies, and training for specialized personnel.
## Behavioral Health Program Specialist
We are seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Program Specialist to manage and enhance vital crisis response initiatives. This role involves program oversight, policy development, and providing expert consultation and training to support our specialized personnel.
### Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer programs, including supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring activities.
- Develop and implement effective policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.
- Interact effectively with diverse individuals and groups to resolve complex issues and build cooperation.
- Provide specialized training, orientation, consultation, and guidance within clinical areas.
- Develop strong interpersonal relationships, addressing the unique needs of Crisis Responders, including postvention support.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend appropriate changes for continuous improvement.
#### Basic Eligibility
- **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship is required.
- **Language:** Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
- **Option 1:** Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a behavioral health or social science-related field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Criminal Justice).
- **Option 2:** Two years of specialized experience as a first responder (e.g., Police, Medic, EMT, Emergency Dispatch) or in a social science field with behavioral health crisis response, **and** two years of higher education in a behavioral health or social science-related field.
- **Option 3:** Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field, **and** one year of specialized experience that included behavioral health crisis response or mental health counseling.
- One year of creditable experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, directly related to the position, demonstrating the core knowledge, skills, and abilities listed under Responsibilities.
- Work primarily in an office setting.
- Requires some standing, bending, and carrying of items such as training materials.
- An officially approved uniform must be worn during all special events.
- **Transcripts:** Must be submitted with your application for educational credit.
- **Experience Credit:** All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
- **Pending Requirements:** Applicants awaiting completion of educational or certification requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fully met.
