Job Description
Summary
Supervisory Recreation Therapist to develop and implement advanced, evidence-based interventions for complex patient rehabilitation.
As a Supervisory Recreation Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing advanced therapeutic interventions for patients with complex medical and mental health needs, ensuring their rehabilitation and successful community reintegration.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Independently administer and interpret comprehensive recreation therapy assessments, developing unique approaches to gather patient information.
- Analyze, interpret, and report assessment data across all functional domains (cognitive, sensory, social, affective, physical, leisure).
- Design and implement evidence-based recreation therapy interventions for patients facing complex conditions such as polytrauma, TBI, PTSD, SCI, substance use disorder, serious mental illness, and hospice/palliative care needs.
- Provide direct patient care, exercising independent judgment, and receiving guidance only for the most intricate cases.
- Develop individualized, measurable treatment plans in collaboration with stakeholders, including scope, duration, and goals.
- Recommend and implement adaptations, modifications, or assistive technology to support patient needs and preferences.
- Utilize activity/task analysis, behavioral interventions, and therapeutic procedures to restore function, build confidence, and develop critical life skills.
- Employ sophisticated techniques, including stress reduction, social skills training, anger/pain management, and lifestyle alteration to achieve clinical outcomes.
- Implement diverse therapeutic interventions such as aquatic therapy, fitness/wellness, community reintegration, and adapted sports.
- Continuously monitor intervention effectiveness, making necessary modifications, and conducting quantitative analysis of program outcomes.
- Participate in co-treatment opportunities (e.g., neurological rehabilitation, mental health recovery).
- Perform discharge analysis and planning to facilitate successful community reintegration.
- Manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and analyze organizational problems to develop efficient operational solutions.
- Apply and guide staff in the use of evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines.
- Contribute to administrative functions including fiscal, material supply, equipment, and program management.
- *Qualifications:**
- **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship is required.
- **English Language Proficiency:** Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
- **Education:** A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in:
- **Experience:** One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, demonstrating independent judgment in complex case management, advanced assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of evidence-based recreation therapy interventions.
