Supervisory Museum Specialist (General)

We are seeking a dedicated Museum Collections Manager to oversee critical collections management functions and department operations. This role requires specialized expertise in the preservation and logistical management of valuable museum objects.

• *Key Responsibilities:**
• Assist in the management of the museum’s collection management department and associated programs.
• Oversee diverse collections-based functions, including reporting, exhibition logistics, and shipping.
• Manage off-site collections storage facilities and operations.
• Plan, establish, and coordinate work schedules, deadlines, and quality standards for collections activities.
• *Qualifications:**
• **Specialized Experience:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to at least GS-12 level in Federal Service) in museum or similar collections management.
• **Core Skills:** Demonstrated experience assisting with museum collections department and program management, encompassing collections management, reporting, exhibition logistics, shipping, and off-site storage management.
• **Operational Oversight:** Proven ability to plan, establish, and coordinate work schedules, deadlines, and quality standards for collections projects.
• **Subject Matter Expertise:** A particular subject-matter specialization (e.g., aeronautics, anthropology, art, geology, history, natural science, technology, biology, or zoology) is often required.
• **General Experience:** Background in the operation or management of a museum or similar collection of valuable objects (e.g., collections management, registration, cataloging, research, preservation, restoration, or conservation).
• **Note:** Relevant paid and unpaid (volunteer) experience will be considered.
