Job Description

Summary

Lead library initiatives and outreach, leveraging African studies, information science, and multilingual communication skills.

This role requires a dedicated professional to apply expertise in Library and Information Science with a focus on African studies. Key qualifications and responsibilities include:

  • **Library & Information Science:** Apply principles, concepts, and techniques of Library and Information Science.
  • **African Studies Expertise:** Possess deep knowledge of the history, culture, politics, and literature of African countries.
  • **Leadership:** Ability to supervise and lead a diverse workforce.
  • **Outreach & Liaison:** Provide public programs outreach, consultation, and liaison services.
  • **Communication Skills:** Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • **Language Proficiency:** Fluent in English and at least one indigenous African language (e.g., Swahili, Wolof, Yoruba). French proficiency is highly desirable.
