Position: Supervisory Federal Air Marshal (FAMS)
Join the Federal Air Marshal Service as a Supervisory FAMS, playing a critical role in national aviation security. This demanding position requires active federal law enforcement experience, exceptional physical readiness, and a commitment to extensive travel and irregular schedules.
- *Key Responsibilities & Expectations:**
- Perform federal law enforcement duties, including carrying and maintaining proficiency with firearms, and using deadly force when necessary.
- Engage in moderate to arduous physical exertion, meeting and maintaining rigorous medical and physical abilities standards.
- Travel constantly, domestically and internationally, often requiring overnight stays and assignments to potentially hazardous locations.
- Be available for 24-hour on-call duty, extended hours, irregular schedules, and changing shifts.
- Accept permanent or long-term temporary assignments to any FAMS operational location worldwide.
- *Minimum Qualifications:**
- Currently serving as a credentialed TSA Law Enforcement/FAMS Federal Air Marshal.
- Minimum of one year of federal primary/rigorous law enforcement experience at the SV-1801-I Pay Band (GS-13) or equivalent.
- *Essential Conditions of Employment:**
- **Mobility Agreement:** Must sign a mobility agreement.
- **Security Clearance:** Obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance, including successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation and credit check. Periodic reinvestigations are required.
- **Drug & Alcohol Screening:** Subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
- **Training:** Successfully complete all relevant training programs.
- **Firearms:** Required to carry a firearm and maintain proficiency.
- **Lautenberg Notice:** Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
- **Physical Ability:** Meet and maintain medical requirements, including physical abilities assessments, for law enforcement officers.
- **Work Schedule:** Must agree to perform duties and duty tours as assigned; flexible schedules are not available.
- **Retirement System:** Applicants covered by CSRS or FERS in a primary/rigorous position must meet specific eligibility requirements for mandatory separation before transferring to a secondary position.
