Job Description
Summary
Lead criminal investigations, applying extensive law enforcement experience and expert knowledge of investigative policies and legal procedures.
This is a supervisory position focused on criminal investigations within a federal agency.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide comprehensive technical and administrative oversight to achieve program objectives, optimizing personnel, equipment, and space.
- Apply management techniques, labor relations concepts, and official guidance to plan, develop, and implement the technical aspects of programs.
- Manage financial resources effectively using basic budget management principles.
- Interact diplomatically and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and implement criminal investigative programs for field operations.
- Identify types of violations and trends to adapt and improve investigative programs.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- **Specialized Experience:** One year of experience equivalent to the next lower federal pay band or GS grade, demonstrating expertise in management techniques, program oversight, budget management, and effective communication.
- **Mandatory Prerequisite:** Extensive experience in a primary and rigorous law enforcement position.
- Thorough knowledge of Criminal Investigation mission, operations, and organizational structure.
- In-depth understanding of law enforcement, technology, and personnel issues.
- Comprehensive knowledge of investigative policies and procedures from the IRS, Treasury Department, and criminal enforcement/prosecution policies of the Justice Department.
- Expertise in rules of evidence, Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, and relevant constitutional, statutory, and case law.
- *Note:* Much of this specialized knowledge is typically acquired through extensive field experience as a Criminal Investigator.
- **Federal Service Requirement (for current federal employees):** Completion of at least 90 days of federal civilian service since your latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
