## Aviation Safety Inspector (Operations)

Join our team as an Aviation Safety Inspector, ensuring compliance and safety within air carrier or general aviation operations. This role demands experienced pilots with strong regulatory knowledge and a commitment to aviation safety.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct certification, inspection, and surveillance activities for air carrier or general aviation operations.
  • Assess technical procedures, policy changes, and new legislation for impact on delegation programs.
  • Apply federal aviation laws and regulations to ensure operational safety.
### General Requirements (All Positions):
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Fluency in English.
  • No more than two FAA regulation violations in the last 5 years.
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse interfering with job performance.
### Medical Requirements (All Positions):
  • Physically able to perform duties safely, with or without accommodation.
  • Good distant vision (corrective lenses permitted).
  • Ability to hear conversational voice (hearing aids permitted).
  • No physical conditions posing a hazard or interfering with flying as a passenger.
  • **For positions requiring aircraft operation:** Possess a valid Second-Class FAA Medical Certificate and pass recurrent examinations.
  • For other positions, provide board-certified physician documentation of meeting minimal medical requirements or undergo individualized assessment.
### Experience & Qualifications (Choose ONE primary focus below):

  • *A. Air Carrier Operations:**
  • Minimum 1 year pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft (>12,500 lbs max takeoff weight).
  • No more than two pilot-error flying accidents in the last 5 years.
  • Professional flying skill demonstrated by a simulator check to Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Standard.
  • Minimum 100 flight hours within the last 3 years.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate or Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Airplane Rating.
  • Minimum 1,500 total flight hours.
  • Valid Second-Class FAA Medical Certificate.
* *Department of Navy specific:* Must be physically qualified to ride as an observer, travel, and lift heavy objects for mishap investigations; prior ATP level performance in large multi-engine aircraft/helicopters.

  • *B. General Aviation Operations:**
  • Valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certificate with single and multi-engine airplane and instrument airplane ratings.
  • Minimum 200 hours of flight instruction given.
  • Professional flying skill demonstrated by a flight check to Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument Rating.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate or Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Airplane Rating.
  • Minimum 100 flight hours within the last 3 years.
  • Minimum 1,500 total flight hours.
  • Possession of single and multi-engine land airplane ratings.
  • No more than two pilot-error flying accidents in the last 5 years.
  • Valid Second-Class FAA Medical Certificate.
* *Note:* Recency of experience may be waived for applicants currently in the 1825 series.

### Specialized Experience (Equivalent to FV-J/FG-14):

  • At least one year of specialized experience in certification, inspection, and surveillance related to Air Carrier or General Aviation Operations.
  • Experience applying aviation laws and regulations to assess technical procedures, policy, legislation, and new technology impacts on delegation programs.
### Highly Desired (Quality Ranking Factor):
  • Experience in developing and implementing regulations and policy related to Flight Standards Delegation Program, Organization Designation Authorization (ODA), Aviation Events, special airworthiness/experimental aircraft operating limitations, balloons, parachuting, and gliders.
