Job Description

Summary

Supervise performance audits, guiding teams and ensuring financial readiness with advanced accounting and DoD certification.

The Supervisory Auditor (Performance) leads audit teams to ensure financial readiness and compliance across Agency sub-commands. This role requires strategic oversight, strong analytical skills, and the ability to influence organizational processes.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Manage and lead multiple teams conducting complex audit, inspection, and evaluation projects.
  • Guide and influence organizational processes, systems, and operations within Agency sub-commands.
  • Independently compose, present, and defend audit results, both verbally and in writing, to stakeholders.
  • Oversee end-to-end audit readiness processes within a functional area.
  • Contribute to the establishment of long-range business planning efforts, priorities, and schedules.
  • Integrate audit readiness and sustainment practices across the organization.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • *1. Basic Accounting Requirement (Choose One Option):**
* **Option A: Education:** Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field, *including or supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting* (up to 6 hours of business law may be included). * *Transcripts from an accredited institution showing degree and accounting hours are required.* * **Option B: Combination of Education & Experience:** At least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. * *Transcripts from an accredited institution are required.*

  • *and, for all applicants, your background must also include ONE of the following:**
* 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses (up to 6 hours of business law included). * A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certificate obtained via written examination. * Completion of a degree with substantial accounting/auditing coursework (e.g., 15 semester hours), *provided* you have successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting/auditing and a panel of professional accountants/auditors has confirmed equivalent knowledge and experience.

  • *2. Specialized Experience (GS-15 Level):**
* One year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level or equivalent (Federal service, military, or private sector). * Creditable experience includes managing teams on audit, inspection, and evaluation projects; composing/defending audit results; managing audit readiness; assisting with long-range planning; and integrating audit readiness.

  • *3. Certification Requirement:**
* Must obtain DoD Financial Management Level 3 certification within 2 years of employment. * Continuous professional education and training are required to maintain certification.

  • Eligibility requirements (e.g., time-in-grade) must be met by the closing date.
  • Volunteer experience that builds relevant competencies, knowledge, and skills is considered creditable.
