Supervisory Attorney-Adviser (General)

Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Attorney (GS-15) to provide expert legal counsel within the Defense Health Agency. This role focuses on complex administrative law, healthcare law, and privacy regulations, involving the supervision of legal personnel and managing a demanding caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and guide other legal personnel.
• Identify complex legal issues and conduct thorough research in Administrative Law and Healthcare Law.
• Provide expert legal advice on intricate healthcare programs and operations.
• Advise agency officials on privacy protections under the Privacy Act of 1974, HIPAA, and other relevant laws.
• Demonstrate strong oral and written advocacy skills.
• Professionally and ethically manage a heavy caseload of clients with complex legal needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• **Citizenship:** Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• **Education:** Successful completion of a Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
• **Bar Membership:** Currently a member in good standing of the Bar of a state, territory, commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Proof of active status dated within three months of application is required.
• **Experience (GS-15):** A minimum of three (3) years of professional legal experience, acquired after Bar admission, commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Additional Requirements:

• **Federal Time-in-Grade:** Current federal attorneys must have completed 52 weeks at the next lower grade level or previously served at the same/higher grade.
• **Veteran's Preference:** Veteran's preference eligibility is considered a positive factor. Applicants should include this information and attach supporting documents (e.g., DD Form 214) to their submission.
