Job Description

Summary

Seeking a GS-15 Accountant to audit, analyze, and negotiate complex financial solutions for multiple agencies.

We are seeking a highly skilled Accountant at the GS-15 level to provide expert financial oversight, analysis, and problem-solving across multiple agencies.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Represent multiple agencies/organizations at the headquarters level on financial matters.
  • Review, analyze, and audit accounting and financial systems and documentation for various agencies.
  • Prepare, validate, and analyze financial statements, records, and reports.
  • Independently negotiate solutions for complex operational accounting and finance issues.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • **Specialized Experience (GS-15):** One year of experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level (federal or private sector) demonstrating the ability to perform the responsibilities listed above.
  • **Basic Requirement (Choose one of the following):**
* **Option 1: Education:** A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Auditing, Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration that includes or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting (up to 6 hours in business law). *Official transcripts required for verification.* * **Option 2: Combination of Experience & Education/Certification:** At least four years of professional accounting experience (or an equivalent combination of experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge), and *one* of the following: * Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality (up to 6 hours in business law). * A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) obtained through written examination. * Completion of a degree that included substantial coursework in accounting or auditing (e.g., 15 semester hours), provided the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting/auditing, and a panel of higher-level professional accountants/auditors has determined the applicant possesses knowledge equivalent to a 4-year accounting degree. *Transcripts, certifications, or professional letters required for verification.*

  • *General Notes:** All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited. All qualifications and education requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
