Summary

Seeking a Strategic Communications Advisor to manage global health foreign policy communications and support senior State Department officials.

This position requires an active **Secret** clearance to be considered.

  • *Strategic Communications Advisor**
We are seeking a Strategic Communications Advisor to support global health and health-related foreign assistance communications for the State Department. This role involves advising on communication strategies, managing public affairs, and providing high-level support to senior officials.

  • *Responsibilities:**
  • Provide strategic communication assistance for global health and health-related foreign policies.
  • Advise on and execute events, speaking engagements, social media, and briefings.
  • Draft, edit, and review a variety of public affairs materials including talking points, press releases, media notes, and website content.
  • Ensure consistent and effective messaging across Department of State bureaus, interagency partners, media, Congress, and the public.
  • Accompany senior personnel to international and domestic meetings, developing relevant materials and information.
  • Prepare and request briefing memoranda for meetings, utilizing the Department of State tasking system.
  • Transcribe notes during international, interagency, and public meetings.
  • Assist in preparing extensive correspondence, telegrams, memoranda, and briefing papers for senior-level contacts across various government agencies.
  • Ensure the appropriate management and handling of classified materials, including SCI documents.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Clearance:** Must possess an active Secret clearance.
  • **Citizenship:** Must be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs/Studies, Communications, International Politics, Peace and Conflict, National Security, or a related field.
  • **Experience:**
* Seven (7) or more years of cumulative experience in areas such as project management, internal/external communications, outreach, congressional affairs, public affairs, media relations, coalition building, digital media, and/or nuclear disarmament/non-proliferation. * Demonstrated experience developing and executing healthcare strategic communications strategies. * Experience working with senior-level government officials on global health or Africa foreign aid communications.
  • **Skills & Abilities:**
* Ability to succinctly present expert-level recommendations on complex topics to senior government officials without detailed guidance. * Proficiency in travel management, preferably with experience using E2 solutions. * Flexible, problem-solver with consistent performance in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. * Capable of managing multiple tasks, coordinating activities across locations, acting decisively, and thriving in a multicultural team. * Expert organizational, written, oral communication, speechwriting, interpersonal, and computer skills. * Excellent English language communication skills (written and spoken).

  • *Compensation & Benefits:**
  • **Estimated Starting Salary:** $142,488.00 (commensurate with experience).
