## Strategic Communications Advisor

We are seeking a Strategic Communications Advisor to design and implement comprehensive communication strategies for the State Department, engaging a diverse range of domestic and international audiences. This role involves advising on high-level communications and supporting senior personnel in a dynamic government environment.
### Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic communications plans, including events, speaking engagements, and social media outreach.
- Draft, edit, and review critical public affairs materials such as diplomatic talking points, press releases, media notes, and website content.
- Ensure consistent and effective messaging across State Department bureaus, interagency partners, media, Congress, and the public.
- Prepare briefing memoranda and materials for high-level domestic and international meetings.
- Provide expert-level recommendations on complex topics to senior government officials.
- Assist with a high volume of correspondence, telegrams, memoranda, and reports, collaborating with senior contacts across various federal agencies.
- Manage classified materials appropriately, adhering to procedures for handling and storing SCI documents.
- Accompany senior personnel to meetings and conferences, developing relevant information.
- Take and transcribe notes during critical meetings as required.
- **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs/Studies, Communications, International Politics, Peace and Conflict, National Security, or a related field.
- **Experience:** Seven (7) or more years of cumulative experience in one or more of the following areas: project management, internal/external communications, outreach, congressional affairs, public affairs, media relations, coalition building/grassroots advocacy, digital media, and/or nuclear disarmament/non-proliferation.
- Proven experience developing and executing strategic communications strategies.
- Demonstrated experience working with senior-level government officials, media, U.S. Congress, and/or foreign policy.
- Ability to succinctly present expert recommendations on complex topics to senior officials without detailed guidance.
- Proficiency in travel management (experience with E2 solutions preferred).
- Exceptional organizational, written, oral communication, speechwriting, interpersonal, and computer skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities, and work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural team environment.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- **Estimated Starting Salary:** $142,488.00 (Pay commensurate with experience).
