Summary

Seeking Staff Psychologists (GS-11/12/13) to provide psychological services and consultation, requiring a doctorate and licensure.

Staff Psychologist (GS-11/12/13)

We are seeking skilled and compassionate Staff Psychologists at various career levels (GS-11 to GS-13) to provide comprehensive psychological services. The full performance level for this position is GS-13.

  • *Key Responsibilities May Include:**
  • Delivering a wide range of professional psychological treatments and assessment methods to diverse patient populations.
  • Designing and implementing effective treatment strategies, incorporating new clinical procedures.
  • Providing professional advice and consultation in areas of psychology and behavioral health.
  • (For specific roles) Conducting or contributing to clinical research projects, including data acquisition, maintenance, and team collaboration.
  • Ensuring appropriate supervision of patient care based on licensure status and grade level.
  • *Minimum Requirements:**
  • **Citizenship:** U.S. Citizenship.
  • **Language:** Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • **Education:** Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program. (Alternative pathways for degrees awarded between 1951-1978 or re-specialization programs are considered).
  • **Internship:** Successful completion of an APA or CPA accredited professional psychology internship training program. (Alternative pathways for VHA-sanctioned programs, pre-1979 internships, or ABPP board certification are considered).
  • **Licensure:** Full, current, and unrestricted doctoral-level license to practice psychology in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or D.C.
* *Temporary Appointment Exception:* Non-licensed applicants meeting other criteria may be hired temporarily at GS-11/12, requiring supervision and obtaining full licensure within two years.

  • *Grade Level Qualifications:**
  • **GS-11 (Entry Level):** Meets all basic requirements. Unlicensed psychologists work under close supervision.
  • **GS-12 (Developmental Level):**
* Minimum one year of professional psychology experience (equivalent to GS-11). * Demonstrated ability to apply diverse treatments, design effective strategies, incorporate new procedures, and engage in research activities. * Unlicensed psychologists work under supervision.
  • **GS-13 (Full Performance Level):**
* Minimum two years of professional psychology experience (at least one year equivalent to GS-12). * Demonstrated ability to apply professional treatments to a full range of patient populations, provide expert consultation, and possess knowledge of clinical research literature.
