Staff Accountant

This federal position is for an Accountant/Auditor requiring specific qualifications.

• *Required Qualifications:**
• *1. Experience (for GS-12 level):**

* One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service. * Specialized experience can be from any sector (federal or non-federal, paid or unpaid, including volunteer work) and includes: * Recording or analyzing financial accounting data for commercial manufacturing entities, adhering to U.S. and foreign Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). * Assisting in the planning and performance of GAAP-compliant financial statement audits. * Analyzing product cost calculations for commercial manufacturing activities.

• *2. Education (Must meet A or B):**

* **A. Degree:** * Bachelor's degree in Accounting; or * A related field (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration) that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting (may include up to 6 hours of business law). * **B

Combination of Education and Experience:** * At least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. * and your background must also include one of the following: * 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses (may include up to 6 hours of business law). * A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certificate obtained through written examination. * Completion of a degree with substantial coursework in accounting/auditing (e.g., 15 semester hours), coupled with successful full-performance level accounting/auditing work, and a demonstrated knowledge of accounting and related fields equivalent to a full accounting degree, as determined by professional review.
