Senior Tax Attorney-Adviser: Provide expert legal advice on complex tax law, requiring J.D., bar membership, and specialized experience.

## Attorney-Adviser (Tax) - Special Counsel (GS-15)

We are seeking a highly qualified Attorney-Adviser (Tax) - Special Counsel to provide expert legal guidance and support on complex tax issues. This role involves advanced legal interpretation, research, and preparation of critical legal documents.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and interpretation of Internal Revenue Laws.
  • Prepare and review legal briefs, pleadings, and private letter rulings.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research on Qualified Plans, Health and Welfare Plans, Executive Compensation, Exempt Organizations, or Employment Tax issues.
### Qualifications:

  • *1. Education:**
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
  • *2. Bar Membership:**
  • Active member in good standing of the bar of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • *3. Experience (GS-15 Equivalent):**
  • **4 years of post-Bar Admission professional legal experience**, which must include:
* At least 1 year of general professional legal experience. * At least 3 years of professional legal tax experience defined as providing advice and legal interpretation of Internal Revenue Laws, preparing and reviewing legal briefs/pleadings, preparing private letter rulings, and conducting legal research related to Qualified Plans, Health and Welfare Plans, Executive Compensation, Exempt Organizations or Employment Tax issues. * At least one year of this tax experience must be equivalent to federal service GS-14 level work.
  • *Note:* Both paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
  • *4. Education Substitution:**
  • An LL.M. degree in a relevant field (tax, GLS-related, or P&A- FOIA/Disclosure related) may substitute for one year of general legal experience.
