Job Description

Summary

Lead a VA specialty social work program as a Program Coordinator, managing operations, staff, and budget.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to serve as a Program Coordinator (GS-13).

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Lead the coordination and implementation of one or more specialty social work programs across the facility.
  • Develop and implement local policies, procedures, and practice guidelines for assigned programs.
  • Oversee program operations, including setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Foster collaboration with internal and external partners to achieve program goals and enhance patient-centered care.
  • Provide full supervisory oversight to staff, including work assignment, performance evaluation, training, and personnel actions.
  • Manage program fiscal matters, including budget administration, fund controls, contracts, and resource forecasting.
  • Leverage knowledge of organizational structure to ensure effective program operations.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Citizenship:** U.S. Citizenship.
  • **Education:** Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program.
  • **Licensure:** Current state licensure/certification at the advanced practice level, with the ability to provide supervision for licensure.
  • **Experience:** At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, demonstrating advanced practice skills, judgment, and professional competency. Certification or post-master's training from a nationally recognized professional organization/university, or equivalent supervised experience, is highly desirable.
  • **Language:** Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • **Physical & Other:** Ability to perform standard office tasks, use office equipment, and engage in active listening/observation. Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and complete Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) training (or have an exemption). Occasional travel required.
