## Visual Communications Manager (U.S. Senate)
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated leader to manage visual communication services, including photography and video production, for the U.S. Senate. This critical role involves supervising a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality output, and representing our services in a high-profile, deadline-driven environment. You will also serve as a Contracting Office’s Representative and act as the Photographic Services Manager in their absence.
### Key Responsibilities:
- **Team Leadership & Development:** Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a multidisciplinary team of creative professionals, fostering their development and managing performance.
- **Operational Oversight:** Manage daily operations, resolve scheduling and service conflicts, and ensure efficient digital photography and video production workflows from editorial to asset delivery.
- **Strategic Representation:** Act as a high-level representative and advocate for visual services, engaging directly with Senate offices, committees, and executive stakeholders.
- **Process Improvement:** Lead teams through technological and organizational transitions, integrating new production and workflow tools.
- **Contracting & Administration:** Serve as a Contracting Office’s Representative, fulfilling administrative requirements.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- **Experience:** 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in photography, video, and/or visual communications.
- **Leadership:** At least 2 years in a lead or supervisor capacity managing high-volume, customer-facing operations.
- **Senate Knowledge:** Knowledge of (or ability to quickly learn) the U.S. Senate's structure, services, and protocols.
- **Technical Expertise:** Strong knowledge of digital photography and video production workflows, including post-production and asset delivery standards.
- **Leadership Skills:** Proven ability to supervise and evaluate teams, use independent judgment for conflict resolution, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills for staff and stakeholders.
- **Professionalism:** Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment, especially in sensitive and complex situations and high-pressure, live environments.
- **Portfolio:** A strong portfolio showcasing operational reliability, creative vision, technical skill, and editorial judgment across photography and short-form video.
- *Desired Qualifications:**
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a diplomatic approach.
- Experience leading teams through significant organizational and technological changes.
- Knowledge of archival best practices and metadata workflows for government or public institutions.
- This is an excepted position requiring onsite presence to support the U.S. Senate.
- Availability is required during government shutdowns, inclement weather, holidays, and late-night, overnight, or weekend sessions to ensure essential services.
- Some work may involve moderate physical effort (carrying items less than 50 lbs), walking, bending, crawling, standing for long durations, working on ladders/scaffolding, and in confined spaces.
- Occasional outdoor work and travel may be required.
