Summary
Lead visual communications and photographic services for the U.S. Senate in a high-volume, customer-facing environment.
This role involves leading visual communications and photographic services within a high-profile, fast-paced environment supporting the U.S. Senate. You will manage a multidisciplinary team, ensure operational excellence, and serve as a key representative.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Act as the Contracting Office’s Representative and, in absence, the Photographic Services Manager.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of creative professionals, including performance management and career development.
- Manage digital photography and video production workflows, including editorial, post-production, and asset delivery.
- Utilize independent judgment to resolve scheduling and service conflicts across visual services.
- Represent the department in high-profile, high-pressure settings, engaging directly with Senate offices, committees, and executive-level stakeholders.
- Lead teams through organizational and technological transitions, integrating new tools and workflows.
- *What You'll Bring:**
- **Experience:** 7+ years in photography, video, and/or visual communications, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role managing high-volume, customer-facing operations.
- **Technical Skills:** Deep knowledge of digital photography and video production workflows, asset management, and archival best practices.
- **Leadership & Management:** Proven ability to supervise and evaluate multidisciplinary teams in deadline-driven environments. Experience with performance management and team development.
- **Communication:** Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for staff supervision, cross-functional collaboration, and diplomatic engagement with all levels of stakeholders.
- **Professionalism:** Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment, especially in sensitive and complex high-profile situations.
- **Adaptability:** Comfort and competence working in live, high-profile settings where adaptability, professionalism, and attention to detail are paramount.
- **Domain Knowledge:** Familiarity with U.S. Senate and SAA structure, services, and protocols, or the ability to quickly learn.
- **Portfolio:** A strong portfolio showcasing operational reliability, creative vision, technical skill, and editorial judgment across photography and short-form video.
- *Working Environment:**
- This is an onsite position supporting essential U.S. Senate services.
- Requires availability during government shutdowns, inclement weather, holidays, late nights, overnight, and weekend sessions.
- May involve moderate physical effort (carrying items less than 50 lbs), outdoor work, frequent walking, bending, crawling, standing for long durations, working on ladders/scaffolding, and in confined spaces.
- Some travel may be required.
- A skills assessment may be part of the hiring process.
