Summary

Seeking an advanced practice, licensed Senior Social Worker to provide specialized clinical care for Veterans.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Social Worker to deliver advanced clinical social work services to Veterans. This role requires independent practice, specialized interventions, and collaborative teamwork to ensure comprehensive, high-quality care within VA programs.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Provide advanced clinical social work services, including individual, group, and family counseling or psychotherapy.
  • Conduct complex psychosocial assessments and implement advanced level psychosocial and case management.
  • Apply specialized interventions and treatment modalities for diverse patient populations, incorporating complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis.
  • Develop and implement methods for measuring practice effectiveness, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment and design system changes.
  • Offer specialized consultation to colleagues and students, serving as a role model for effective social work practice.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to ensure equitable access and high-quality care for Veterans.
  • Maintain Veteran privacy and confidentiality, acting as an advocate with VA and community service providers.
  • May hold administrative responsibility for clinical program development and modification of service patterns.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Citizenship:** U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • **Education:** Master's degree in Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program.
  • **Licensure:** Current state licensure or certification to independently practice social work at the advanced practice (master's) level, which includes an advanced generalist or clinical examination (unless grandfathered). Must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
  • **English Language:** Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • **Experience (GS-12 Level):**
* Minimum of two (2) years of post-advanced practice clinical licensure experience. * At least one (1) year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, demonstrating advanced practice skills and judgment in a specialized area of social work practice.

  • *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):**
  • Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities.
  • Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment.
  • Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice.
  • Ability to provide specialized consultation and role model effective social work practice.
  • Capability to expand clinical knowledge and contribute to policy/procedure development within the service delivery area.
  • *Preferred Qualifications:**
  • Familiarity with the VA Suicide Prevention Program and/or Urgent Care settings.
  • Experience serving Veterans diagnosed with serious mental illness.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based practices within a Veteran-centric environment.
  • At least two (2) years of specialized experience in mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  • Certification or post-master's training in a specialty from a nationally recognized professional organization or university.
  • *Work Environment & Physical Demands:**
The role involves typical office and clinical activities (listening, reading, writing, computer use). Work is performed in an urgent care clinical setting with potential exposure to communicable diseases. Strenuous physical activity is not required.
