Job Description

Summary

Seeking a licensed, experienced Senior Social Worker (GS-12) to provide advanced clinical care in a specialized area, preferably with Veterans.

Join our team as a Senior Social Worker (GS-12) to provide advanced clinical social work services, specializing in complex patient care and program development. This role requires expertise in specialized interventions and the ability to contribute to clinical knowledge and practice guidelines.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Provide specialized interventions and treatment modalities, including individual, group, and/or family counseling/psychotherapy.
  • Conduct advanced psychosocial assessment and case management.
  • Apply complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment within approved clinical privileges.
  • Develop and implement methods for measuring the effectiveness of social work practice and services, utilizing outcome evaluations.
  • Provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students, role-modeling effective practice skills.
  • Expand clinical knowledge, write policies, procedures, and practice guidelines for service delivery.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • **Education:** Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program. A doctoral degree is not a substitute.
  • **Licensure:**
* Current state licensure or certification to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. * Advanced practice level licensure/certification, including passing an ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination (or state-specific equivalent/grandfathered). * Ability to provide clinical supervision for social work licensure/certification.
  • **Experience:**
* Minimum of two years of post-advanced practice clinical licensure experience. * One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. * Demonstrated advanced practice skills and judgment as an expert in a specialized area of practice. * May include certification or post-master's training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university in a specialty.

  • *Preferred Qualifications:**
  • Familiarity working with Veterans, especially in Substance Abuse Recovery Programs (SUD and mental illness).
  • Skill in evidence-based practices (EBPs) within a Veteran-centric environment.
  • At least two years of specialized social work practice in mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  • *Basic Requirements:**
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • *Physical Requirements:**
Requires light to moderate lifting (15-44 lbs), light carrying, reaching, full use of hands/fingers, walking, standing, kneeling, rapid mental/muscular coordination, specific vision capabilities (near, far, depth, color), hearing (aid permitted), and emotional/mental stability. Ability to work closely with others and alone.
