Summary
Lead a team to develop high-performance communication platforms on AWS, driving engineering transformation and modernizing customer experiences.
GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead the Communications Services team. This role focuses on building high-performance, low-latency communications platforms and applications, driving the modernization of services and architecture on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with an emphasis on data and automation for customer experience transformation.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Define and execute the technical roadmap to increase product delivery velocity and unlock new engineering capabilities.
- Oversee project planning, dependencies, risk identification, and timely delivery of enterprise-wide solutions.
- Drive improvements in application performance, capacity benchmarking, availability, and reliability within cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with product teams to understand requirements, formulate strategies, and deliver quality products efficiently.
- Manage team budget, contribute to strategic planning, and champion process improvements.
- Challenge team members to share knowledge and learn new technologies, addressing skill gaps proactively.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- **Technical Expertise:** Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, object-oriented development, design patterns, microservices, and testing methodologies.
- **Cloud Platforms:** In-depth knowledge of cloud computing technologies (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and strong experience with public cloud platforms like AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure.
- **Programming:** Fluency in Python, Java, Go, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, JSON, and RESTful Web Services.
- **Data & Architecture:** Proven experience leading data modeling and architecture efforts for analytics, reporting, and AI/ML initiatives.
- **Tools & Methodologies:** Proficiency in project/work management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) and understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps principles.
- **Leadership:** Demonstrated experience managing and growing technical leaders and teams, driving cultural change in technical excellence and efficiency.
- *Experience:**
- 8+ years with customer communications platforms, services, and software.
- 6+ years coding experience.
- 5+ years development in a large-scale, mission-critical environment.
- 5+ years hands-on supervision of technical personnel.
- 5+ years with a public cloud provider (AWS preferred).
- 2+ years with automated testing (Unit, Integration, End-to-End).
- *Education:**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
