## Hydrology & Dam Safety Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Hydrology & Dam Safety Specialist to conduct critical site characterization and hazard evaluations for nuclear facilities. This role requires applying advanced hydrologic principles, managing complex technical projects, and effectively communicating vital safety information to various stakeholders.
### Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hydrologic site characterization and hazard evaluations for nuclear facilities, utilizing advanced runoff and hydraulic models.
- Assess diverse flood types, including local intense precipitation, riverine, dam failure, and coastal flood hazards.
- Apply expertise in dam safety, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with Federal Guidelines for Dam Safety.
- Utilize NRC regulations, regulatory guides, and risk-informed approaches (e.g., probabilistic flood hazard analysis, probabilistic risk assessments) for new reactor safety reviews.
- Prioritize, plan, schedule, and manage complex interdisciplinary technical projects related to external hazard assessments, including contractor oversight.
- Lead technical discussions, represent the agency with external stakeholders, resolve challenging technical issues, and provide management with clear recommendations.
- At least one year of specialized experience in hydrology, demonstrating knowledge of runoff/hydraulic models, flood hazard evaluation (precipitation, riverine, dam failure, coastal), dam safety, and probabilistic approaches.
- Proven knowledge and experience with dam safety, inspections, and Federal Guidelines for Dam Safety.
- Familiarity with NRC regulations, regulatory guides, and risk-informed approaches for safety reviews.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage complex technical projects involving interdisciplinary teams.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills for presenting complex technical issues to diverse audiences.
