Summary
Lead WAMU's comprehensive marketing, brand engagement, and membership fundraising strategies for a prominent public media station.
WAMU 88.5, a leading public media station in Washington D.C., owned and operated by American University, is seeking a **Senior Director of Marketing and Brand Engagement**.
This pivotal role is responsible for shaping and executing comprehensive marketing, brand, and public relations strategies, while also driving membership fundraising for individual donors. You will play a critical role in enhancing WAMU's profile, increasing audience engagement, and securing financial support across local and national platforms. This is a hybrid position requiring 3-4 days on campus weekly.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- **Strategic Marketing & Brand Development:** Develop and implement integrated marketing and advertising campaigns, manage branding, promotions, events, partnerships, and ensure consistent visual identity. Oversee all marketing collateral and drive audience segmentation strategies.
- **Comprehensive Communications:** Lead multi-channel communication strategies across on-air, digital, social, email, direct mail, and print. Oversee copywriting, editing for web/newsletters, annual reports, and serve as primary media liaison.
- **Membership & Fundraising Leadership:** Design, budget, and execute annual membership fundraising strategies, including on-air campaigns, events, direct mail, telemarketing, and digital fundraising. Supervise membership staff and donor database administration.
- **Team Leadership & Collaboration:** Manage and mentor a team across marketing, communications, events, and membership. Collaborate extensively with American University Development, NPR, and WAMU's Content, Product, and Technology teams to leverage market data and optimize CRM functionality.
- **Financial Management:** Oversee a significant operating budget, lead analytics for fundraising optimization, streamline processes, and manage budget projections and expenses.
- *What You'll Bring:**
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in integrated fundraising, marketing, public relations, corporate communications, or branding.
- 5+ years of experience with internal and external communications, including developing and implementing outreach and engagement plans.
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic media strategies in a multi-platform environment.
- Exceptional oral, interpersonal, and journalistic writing skills.
- Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and collaborate effectively across functional areas.
- Experience working in a non-profit or media-based environment is a plus.
- Ability to work in a hybrid capacity (3-4 days/week on campus).
- *Compensation & Benefits:**
- **Salary Range:** $161,768 - $188,621 annually.
- **Work Hours:** Full-time, 35 hours per week.
