Summary
Manage and enhance comprehensive safety programs, conducting inspections and developing standards to ensure workplace safety.
Join our team as a Safety Program Specialist responsible for ensuring a safe work environment across our organization. We are looking for a proactive professional to manage and enhance our safety programs.
- *Responsibilities:**
- Administer regional and agency-wide safety programs.
- Conduct site visits, surveillances, and inspections; identify deficiencies and propose mitigation actions.
- Prioritize workplace inspections based on hazardous exposures and conditions.
- Develop comprehensive checklists and audit tools for safety assessments.
- Provide oversight and guidance for contractor support services (e.g., Certified Industrial Hygienists).
- Maintain and update a health and safety resource page with best practices and agency guidance.
- Develop criteria and rating systems to measure program effectiveness.
- *Requirements:**
- One year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent in safety program administration.
- Proven experience in performing the responsibilities listed above.
- Ability to meet federal qualification standards.
- Relevant volunteer experience is considered.
