Summary

Manages and implements comprehensive safety and occupational health programs, ensuring compliance and mitigating workplace hazards.

  • *Safety and Occupational Health Manager GS-12**
We are seeking a skilled Safety and Occupational Health Manager to develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs. This role ensures workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and fosters a healthy environment by identifying and mitigating hazards.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Manage and oversee safety and occupational health program elements.
  • Develop, recommend, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Apply federal safety laws, regulations (OSHA, NFPA), and principles.
  • Analyze and evaluate workplace hazards, processes, and systems.
  • Design or modify environments to control and eliminate risks.
  • Develop and implement accident reduction and illness prevention programs.
  • Conduct safety inspections, surveys, and accident investigations.
  • Review technical construction plans, identify worksite hazards, and ensure PPE compliance.
  • Provide training to staff on safety and occupational health topics.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in specific safety and occupational health areas.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • *Education:**
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, or a closely related field.
  • or, a degree in another field supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, or industrial psychology.
  • *Experience (GS-12 Level):**
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, demonstrating:
* Management of safety programs, policies, procedures, and accident analysis. * Review of technical construction plans, hazard identification, and PPE enforcement. * Application of OSHA and NFPA Standards to develop and implement Safety and Occupational Health Programs. * Expertise as a subject matter expert in safety and occupational health.

  • *Important Note on Experience:**
  • All experience (paid and volunteer) must clearly state full-time or part-time hours worked per week. Federal employees must provide non-award SF-50s to validate work schedules for proper credit.
