Summary
Lead federal safety programs, interpreting regulations, evaluating hazards, and implementing solutions to ensure workplace safety.
We are seeking a highly qualified Safety and Occupational Health Specialist (GS-12) to lead and enhance safety programs within our organization.

- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and manage activity-wide safety programs.
- Serve as a technical expert in study groups, resolving safety problems and developing innovative solutions.
- Interpret, apply, and develop safety and occupational health laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or standards.
- Evaluate existing safety programs and inspect workplaces to identify potential hazards.
- Apply safety and occupational health knowledge to effectively reduce or control hazards.
- *Qualifications (GS-12):**
Applicants must meet one of the following qualification paths:

Specialized Experience:**
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal service, demonstrating:
- Developing and managing comprehensive safety programs.
- Acting as a technical expert in resolving complex safety issues.
- Interpreting, applying, or developing safety and occupational health regulations and policies.
- Evaluating safety programs or conducting workplace hazard inspections.
- Applying safety and occupational health principles to mitigate risks.
- (Note: Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, counts towards qualification.)*

The Defense Media Activity (DMA) is a United States Department of Defense (DoD) field activity. The Defense Media Activity is located on Fort Meade, Maryland. DoD field activities are established as DoD components by law, by the President, or by the Secretary of Defense to provide for the performance, on a DoD-wide basis, of a supply or service activity that is common to more than one Military Department when it is determined to be more effective, economical, or efficient to do so.
