- *Key Responsibilities (Vary by Grade Level):**
- Deliver fundamental to complex patient care, applying biopsychosocial concepts and technical competencies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize holistic patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate leadership in practice, managing complex client situations, and driving care improvement.
- Engage in continuous professional development and utilize evidence-based practice.
- *Basic Requirements:**
- **English Language Proficiency:** Demonstrated proficiency in basic written and spoken English.
- **Education:** Graduate of a professional nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE (ADN, Diploma, BSN, MSN, or Doctorate).
- **Licensure:** Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- *Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception:* Candidates meeting educational requirements but not yet licensed may be appointed temporarily (up to 2 years) while actively pursuing licensure.
- *Grade Level Determinations (Based on Scope, Education, and Experience):**
- **Nurse I, Level I:** ADN or Diploma; no professional nursing experience required. Delivers fundamental, knowledge-based care.
- **Nurse I, Level II:** ADN/Diploma + 1 year specialized nursing experience (equivalent to Nurse I, Level I); OR BSN with no additional experience. Provides care for basic to complex clients.
- **Nurse I, Level III:** ADN/Diploma + 2 years professional nursing experience (1 year equivalent to Nurse I, Level II); OR BSN + 1 year professional nursing experience (equivalent to Nurse I, Level II); OR MSN/Master's in related field with BSN. Demonstrates proficiency and self-direction in complex situations.
- **Nurse II:** BSN + 2 years professional nursing experience (equivalent to Nurse I, Level III); OR MSN + 1 year specialized nursing experience (equivalent to Nurse I, Level III); or Doctoral degree in Nursing/related field with BSN. Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care.
- **Nurse III:** MSN + 2 years specialized nursing experience (1 year equivalent to Nurse II); or Doctoral degree in Nursing + 1 year specialized nursing experience (equivalent to Nurse II); or Master's/Doctoral degree in related field with BSN + required experience. Executes leadership and creative approaches to complex client care beyond immediate practice setting.
- *Preferred Experience:**
- BSN with 2 years of case management and utilization experience.
- 5 years of clinical experience in acute/critical care.
- *Physical Requirements:**
- Requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, sit, bend, pull, and push for potentially long periods.
- May involve transferring patients/objects (mechanical lifts provided).
- Potential exposure to infected patients, contaminated materials, and combative patients; may require protective clothing.
- Must complete annual Employee Health requirements.
- May be required to drive/ride in GSA vehicles for off-site care.
