- *Basic Requirements:**
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Graduation from a professional nursing school accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
- **Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception:** Candidates meeting education but awaiting licensure may be appointed temporarily (up to 120 days, extendable) while actively pursuing licensure.
- *Experience and Education Levels:**
- *Nurse I (Entry to Developing Skill):**
- **Level I:** Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing. Delivers fundamental, knowledge-based care.
- **Level II:** ADN/Diploma + 1 year specialized nursing experience or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Provides care for basic or complex clients.
- **Level III:** ADN/Diploma + 2 years professional nursing experience (1 yr equivalent to Level II) OR BSN + 1 year professional nursing experience (equivalent to Level II) or Master's degree (MSN or related field with BSN). Demonstrates proficiency and self-direction in complex situations.
- *Nurse II (Collaborative Leadership):**
- BSN + 2 years professional nursing experience (equivalent to Nurse I, Level III) OR MSN + 1 year specialized nursing experience (equivalent to Nurse I, Level III) or Doctoral degree (DNP/PhD or related field with BSN). Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies.
- *Nurse III (Advanced Practice & Leadership):**
- MSN + 2 years specialized nursing experience (1 yr equivalent to Nurse II) or Doctoral degree + 1 year specialized nursing experience (equivalent to Nurse II). Executes responsibilities demonstrating leadership, experience, and creative approaches to complex client care beyond the immediate practice setting.
- *Preferred Experience:**
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with three (3) years of experience.
- *Physical Requirements:**
- Requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity.
- Potentially long periods of walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Patient and object transfers may be required (mechanical lifts provided).
- May be exposed to infected patients/contaminated materials; required to don protective clothing in isolation, operative, or home settings.
- Occasional exposure to combative patients (due to delirium, dementia, psychiatric disorders).
- Must complete annual Employee Health requirements.
- May require driving/riding in GSA-vehicles for home or off-site care.
