  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Deliver direct patient care, from fundamental to complex, integrating biopsychosocial concepts.
  • Contribute to and lead improvements in holistic patient care through collaborative strategies.
  • Manage challenging patient situations, demonstrating self-direction and deliberate planning.
  • (Specific duties and leadership responsibilities vary by grade level, focusing on practice, patient-driven care, professional development, and evidence-based practice).
  • *Minimum Requirements:**
  • **English Proficiency:** Proficient in basic written and spoken English.
  • **Education:** Graduate of a professional nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
* *Alternative:* Master's level bridge program with equivalent bachelor's coursework (leading to state licensure), or foreign nursing education with a current, unrestricted U.S. RN license and formal degree equivalency validation.
  • **Licensure:** Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
* *Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception:* Candidates meeting education but lacking licensure may be appointed temporarily (up to 2 years) while actively pursuing licensure.

  • *Qualifications by Grade Level (Examples):**
  • **Nurse I, Level I:** Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing.
  • **Nurse I, Level II:** ADN/Diploma + 1 year specialized nursing experience or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • **Nurse I, Level III:** ADN/Diploma + 2 years professional nursing experience OR BSN + 1 year professional nursing experience or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or a related field with a BSN.
  • **Nurse II:** BSN + 2 years professional nursing experience OR MSN + 1 year specialized nursing experience or Doctoral degree in Nursing or a related field with a BSN.
  • **Nurse III:** MSN + 2 years specialized nursing experience or Doctoral degree in Nursing or a related field with BSN + 1 year specialized nursing experience.
  • *Preferred Experience:**
  • BSN with 3 years of outpatient clinic experience.
  • 5 years of prior acute/clinical experience.
  • *Physical Requirements:**
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, sit, bend, pull, and push for potentially long periods; manual dexterity required.
  • Visual acuity, keen hearing, and clear speech are essential.
  • Ability to transfer patients and objects (mechanical lifts provided).
  • May involve exposure to infected or combative patients; ability to wear protective clothing as needed.
  • Must complete annual Employee Health requirements.
  • May require driving/riding in GSA vehicles for off-site care.
