- *Key Responsibilities & Qualifications:**
- *Education & Licensure:**
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
- Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program (ACEN or CCNE) is required.
- Foreign nursing graduates must possess current, full, active, and unrestricted registration and may require formal degree equivalency validation.
- A current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia is essential.
- **Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception:** Candidates meeting education requirements but awaiting licensure may be appointed temporarily as a GNT while actively pursuing their license (up to 2 years).
- *Preferred Qualifications:**
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's in a related field with a BSN.
- Experience with Site Visit Surveys and Action Plan Management.
- Background in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives.
- Demonstrated proficiency in professional writing.
- *Grade Determination (Based on Education and Experience):**
- **Nurse I, Level I:** ADN/Diploma, entry-level.
- **Nurse I, Level II:** ADN/Diploma + 1 year experience, or BSN.
- **Nurse I, Level III:** ADN/Diploma + 2 years experience (1 year at Level II), or BSN + 1 year experience (at Level II), or MSN/Master's in related field with BSN.
- **Nurse II:** BSN + 2 years experience (at Level III), or MSN + 1 year experience (at Level III), or Doctorate in Nursing/related field with BSN.
- **Nurse III:** MSN + 2 years specialized experience (1 year at Nurse II), or Doctorate in Nursing/related field with BSN + 1 year specialized experience (at Nurse II). *Specific dimension requirements apply for higher grades.*
- *Physical Requirements:**
- Requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity.
- Involves potentially long periods of walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing.
- Ability to transfer patients and objects (mechanical lifts provided).
- Potential exposure to infected patients and contaminated materials, requiring protective clothing in specific situations.
- Occasional exposure to combative patients.
- Must complete annual Employee Health requirements.
- May require driving/riding in GSA vehicles for off-site patient care.
