Job Description
Summary
Develop and deliver therapeutic recreation programs, assessing patient needs and designing treatment plans for rehabilitation.
As a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, you will develop and deliver therapeutic recreation programs that support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of patients.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Evaluate patient histories, interests, aptitudes, and skills to design individualized therapy activities.
- Develop and implement comprehensive therapeutic recreation treatment plans for patients with physical, emotional, and/or social challenges.
- Continuously revise treatment plans based on patient responses, diagnostic changes, and intervention effectiveness.
- Plan and conduct adaptive recreational activities tailored to patient needs.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- **Education:** Bachelor's or higher degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, Dance Therapy, or Music Therapy.
- **Experience (GS-10 Level):** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to federal GS-09) directly involving patient evaluation, therapeutic treatment plan development and revision, and leading adaptive recreational activities.
- *Desired Qualifications:**
- Experience in long-term care settings.
- Experience interacting with geriatric patients.
