Join the VA as a Staff Psychologist, providing essential psychological services to Veterans across various experience levels (GS-11 to GS-13). We are seeking dedicated professionals committed to mental health care.

  • *Key Responsibilities & Qualifications:**
  • *Basic Requirements:**
  • **Citizenship:** U.S. Citizenship is required (exceptions may apply per VA policy).
  • **Language:** Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • **Licensure:** Hold a full, current, and unrestricted doctoral-level license to practice psychology in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • **Licensure Exception:** Non-licensed applicants may be temporarily appointed as a 'graduate psychologist' (GS-11/12) for up to two years. Licensure must be obtained within this period, with practice under supervision. Failure to obtain licensure will result in termination.
  • *Grade Level Qualifications:**
  • **GS-11 (Entry Level Staff Psychologist):** No experience beyond basic requirements.
  • **GS-12 (Developmental Level Staff Psychologist):**
* **Experience:** At least one year as a professional psychologist (equivalent to GS-11). * **Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):** * Apply diverse professional psychological treatments/assessment methods to various patient populations. * Design and implement effective treatment strategies; incorporate new clinical procedures. * Conduct basic research tasks within an established team, including participant relations, data acquisition, and collaboration.
  • **GS-13 (Full Performance Level Staff Psychologist):**
* **Experience:** At least two years as a professional psychologist, with one year equivalent to GS-12. * **Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):** * Apply professional psychological treatments to the full range of patient populations. * Provide professional advice and consultation in psychology and behavioral health. * Possess knowledge of clinical research literature.

  • *Preferred Experience:**
  • Familiarity working with Veterans in Substance Abuse Recovery Programs (intensive outpatient, mental illness, and SUD).
  • Proficiency in evidence-based practices and experience in a Veteran-centric environment.
  • *Physical Requirements:**
  • Ability to perform tasks including light to moderate lifting (15-44 lbs), light carrying, reaching, using hands/fingers, walking, standing, and kneeling.
  • Requires good near/far vision, depth perception, color distinction, and hearing (aid permitted).
  • Must possess emotional and mental stability, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination is required.
