Summary

Seeking licensed/licensable Staff Psychologists to provide comprehensive psychological services, assessments, and treatment strategies within a VA healthcare setting.

Join the VA as a Staff Psychologist, delivering comprehensive psychological services, assessments, and treatment strategies to diverse patient populations across various performance levels (GS-11 to GS-13). This role is crucial for supporting veteran well-being within a dedicated healthcare environment.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Apply a wide range of professional psychological treatments and assessment methods.
  • Design and implement effective, evidence-based treatment strategies.
  • Incorporate new clinical procedures and advancements in practice.
  • Conduct or support clinical research activities, especially for roles with specified research duties.
  • Provide professional advice and consultation on psychological and behavioral health matters (required at GS-13 level).
  • *Qualifications:**
  • **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship is required.
  • **Education:** Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program. Alternative pathways include a doctoral degree with an accredited respecialization program, or a pre-1979 doctoral degree from a regionally-accredited institution with a psychological dissertation.
  • **Internship:** Successful completion of an APA or CPA accredited professional psychology internship. Specific exceptions apply, including VHA-sanctioned programs, pre-1979 VHA internships, board certification by ABPP, or pre-1979 doctoral degrees with supervised internship experience.
  • **Licensure:** Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. State, Territory, or D.C.
* *Note:* Non-licensed applicants may receive a temporary appointment as a "graduate psychologist" (up to 2 years) under supervision; full licensure is required for continued employment.
  • **English Proficiency:** Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • **Experience Requirements (Progressive Levels):**
* **GS-11 (Entry):** No experience beyond basic requirements. * **GS-12 (Developmental):** At least 1 year of professional psychology experience (equivalent to GS-11), demonstrating knowledge of treatments/assessments, ability to design strategies, incorporate new procedures, and conduct/support research. * **GS-13 (Full Performance):** At least 2 years of professional psychology experience (with 1 year at GS-12 equivalent), demonstrating ability to apply the full range of treatments, provide professional advice, and knowledge of clinical research literature.

  • *Preferred Experience:**
  • Experience in psychological testing and integrated report writing (e.g., personality, cognitive, self-report inventories).
  • Experience providing virtual behavioral medicine testing services.
  • *Physical Requirements:**
  • Primarily sedentary work, involving extended periods of sitting or standing to operate a computer.
  • Occasional walking, bending, and carrying light items.
  • Ability to travel to VA facilities as required.
