Summary
Seeking National Security Affairs professionals for Professor/Professor of Practice roles focusing on Western Hemisphere defense and security.
Join our team as a Professor or Professor of Practice, focusing on National Security Affairs in the Western Hemisphere. We seek accomplished professionals to contribute to academic programs, research, and policy development.
- *About the Roles:**
- **Professor:** Primarily focuses on academic teaching, curriculum design, scholarly research, and program management related to defense and security studies.
- **Professor of Practice:** Emphasizes applied expertise, advising leaders, policy development, and institution strengthening based on extensive professional experience.
- *Key Responsibilities (May vary by role):**
- Conduct scholarly and policy research on Western Hemisphere defense and security issues.
- Design and teach multidisciplinary subjects in defense and security studies.
- Advise Western Hemisphere leaders on defense and security concepts and their application to policy.
- Provide direction and management for LACC-focused academic programs.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across agencies and organizations.
- *Qualifications:**
- *Common Requirements:**
- Professional fluency in English and Spanish is required; Portuguese or French is desirable.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Deep understanding of defense and security challenges, trends, and priorities in the Western Hemisphere.
- All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
- *For Professor:**
- **Education:** Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in National Security Affairs or a related field.
- **Experience:** Minimum 8 years of relevant university-level teaching or equivalent instructional experience (curriculum design, teaching multidisciplinary defense/security subjects in the Western Hemisphere).
- **Research:** Demonstrated in-depth scholarly and policy research with a publication track record on contemporary Western Hemisphere defense and security issues.
- *For Professor of Practice:**
- **Education:** Earned master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in National Security Affairs or a related field.
- **Experience:** Minimum 10 years of professional or academic experience working on defense/security issues impacting the Western Hemisphere.
- **Advisory Expertise:** Proven ability to advise Western Hemisphere leaders, explaining key defense/security concepts and applying them to problem-solving, policy development, and institution strengthening in the region.
- *Desired Qualifications (for both roles):**
- Experience in national security policy development with governmental and/or non-governmental organizations.
- Established professional network with senior civilian and uniformed actors in the Western Hemisphere's defense and security sector, think tanks, universities, and NGOs.
