Job Description

Manages and schedules printing operations, provides expert recommendations, and ensures quality for Congressional publishing services.
The Printing Services Specialist plans, schedules, and manages diverse printing and publishing projects, ensuring high-quality output for various customers, including Congressional clients. **Key Responsibilities:** * Plan and schedule printing, binding, pre-press, and production work, coordinating with internal teams and external customers (e.g., Congressional offices). * Provide expert recommendations to customers on printing and binding requests. * Determine printing specifications (typography, layout, paper stock, etc.). * Negotiate and administer contracts for printing, binding, and related services. * Analyze printing costs, plan, and estimate project schedules. * *For PG-12:* Review and correct written specifications to ensure precise customer requirements are met. **Required Qualifications:** **Education (Individual Occupational Requirement - IOR):** * Major study in Journalism, Business Administration, English Composition, Commerce, Accounting, Printing/Printing Engineering, Graphic/Commercial Art, Industrial Engineering, or Economics. **Specialized Experience:** * **For PG-11:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to PG-09) encompassing planning/scheduling printing/production work and providing printing/binding recommendations. * *Education Substitution (PG-11 only):* Ph.D., equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education (if related); OR a combination of education and experience (major study: printing/printing engineering, graphic/commercial art preferred for combination). * **For PG-12:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to PG-11) including all PG-11 duties plus reviewing and correcting written specifications to meet customer requirements. **General:** * Qualifying experience includes paid and unpaid work (e.g., volunteer work). * All requirements must be met by the closing date (08/25/2025).
