Summary
Investigate crimes, collect evidence, and enforce laws within a K-9 Special Unit, requiring specialized law enforcement experience.
We are seeking dedicated Law Enforcement Investigators for our K-9 Special Unit. This role requires extensive investigative skills, meticulous evidence handling, and rigorous enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, with a specialized focus on K-9 unit operations.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Conduct preliminary investigations into a wide range of criminal acts, including felonies, misdemeanors, grand larceny, sabotage, armed robbery, assaults, and domestic disputes.
- Enforce all applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive law enforcement reports, including statements, advice of rights, accident reports, and field investigation reports.
- *Required Qualifications & Experience:**
- **Specialized Experience:** A minimum of one year of specialized law enforcement experience equivalent to the AD-05/GS-05 level (for AD-06 qualification) or AD-06/GS-06 level (for AD-07 qualification).
- **Demonstrated Skills:**
- *Special Conditions of Employment:**
- **K-9 Unit:** Must successfully complete the agency's Basic Explosive Dog Handlers Course. Retention is contingent upon meeting PFPA medical standards and fulfilling K-9 Special Unit duties.
- **Compensation:** Eligible for an additional 6% "Special Unit Pay" upon successful completion of required training and while assigned to the unit.
- **Mobility:** Requires signing a mobility agreement. This position is subject to permanent relocation to various PFPA duty locations, including the National Capital Region, Raven Rock, Glynco, Harrisburg, or Baltimore.
