Summary
Experienced, Board-Certified Psychiatrist needed to lead and strategically develop mental health programs within the VA.
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly qualified Physician Leader with expertise in Psychiatry to oversee and strategically develop mental health programs.
- *Responsibilities:**
- Develop and implement strategic mental health plans and vision.
- Lead, communicate, and motivate a diverse group of managers, supervisors, and employees across medical centers.
- Formulate and recommend new or revised mental health policies consistent with organizational goals.
- Collaborate effectively with the VHA Office of Mental Health Services (OMHS).
- Evaluate workload, fiscal, and performance data to inform program improvements.
- Influence high-level officials on policy adoption and conformance to performance measures.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to mental health leadership.
- Perform routine and as-needed site visits of mental health programs within the VISN.
- Promote high-quality mental health care, support research, and enhance communication.
- *Minimum Requirements:**
- **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship.
- **Education:** Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from a VA-approved medical school.
- **Licensure:** Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- **Residency:** Completion of an ACGME/AOA accredited residency training program in Psychiatry.
- **Board Certification:** Board Certified in Psychiatry.
- **Language:** Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):** Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based mental health treatments, organized treatment programs, policy communication, analytical techniques, effective communication (oral/written), strategic/tactical leadership, policy development, influencing officials, and collaborative work.
- *Preferred Experience:**
- Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience overseeing Mental Health programs.
- At least two (2) years of experience as a facility Mental Health Service Chief or VISN Chief Mental Health Officer.
